Chad joined SEND in 1992, sensing the Lord leading him to serve in the Former Soviet Union. After language study, he moved to Central Siberia where he met his wife, Leanna, and helped to start the Krasnoyarsk Bible College. He served as academic dean while gradually transferring the school to nationals.

In 2009, the Wiebes moved to Ukraine to help churches grow in their vision for reaching the unreached. Since then, many short-term teams and missionaries were sent out. Currently, Chad and Leanna serve in Kyiv. They keep the vision for missions going by teaching Kairos and training new instructors. They enjoy discipling and encouraging young pastors and women in ministry.

Chad serves as Ministry Director for SEND Ukraine. Since February 2022, together with field missionaries, Chad and Leanna have been making the most of every opportunity to aid churches in their efforts to help communities during the war. Thanks to donations to the Help Ukraine fund , generators, coal, food packages and Christian literature have been distributed to thousands who have not heard the Gospel before. The Wiebes have three grown daughters living and working in the US.
